Original character, created in the often cluttered mind of the mun. I am not Chris Pine, nor am I affiliated with him. He owns himself, the lucky bastard. Don't take any kind of offence to what you read or what goes on in his journal. It's all for shits and giggles anyway. Also, he's a work in progress so please, be kind. Rewind. :) Deacon was born Deacon Edward Brigs VIII, the name given to all eldest sons within the Briggs family, to Arthur and Elisabeth Briggs. Raised in Notting Hill, Deacon was the first of four Briggs children. Following him, there was Patrick, Colin, and Darcie. He and Darcie, the youngest and only girl, were always the closest and he was always very protective of her as they grew. Typically, he was careful and mindful of his younger siblings, always in his parents' good graces. He avoided trouble though enjoyed tricks and pranks with Patrick on their younger brother, Colin (such as convincing him he was late for primaries on a Saturday morning). He and Patrick's relationship changed when Deacon was 13, Patrick 12. He didn't understand what happened at the time, but their Mum would often send Patrick away on visits to their Uncle Terry's house, their Mum's brother. As it turns out, there were 15 visits in total during all of which he abused Patrick. Deacon's only recently found this out, though he always suspected something was awry. Patrick often blamed Deacon for not protecting him or helping him think of an excuse not to visit their Uncle and still carries this resentment. Deacon's felt a great deal of guilt over not being there for his brother when he needed him the most, and is still working through these feelings. He and Patrick were never friendly with each other after that year. Barely civil, they spoke only when necessary and Deacon's relationship with his sister grew. Where Patrick had once been Deacon's shadow, now Darcie was. After attending Oxford University, he moved to Shoreditch. However, he only lived here for a matter of months before packing his things and relocating to New York to be with the girlfriend he had at the time. She later broke things off with him, finding herself completely enamored by an American bloke, leaving Deacon heartbroken and in an entirely foreign country. Still, he found his way - he attended New York University for his Master's Degree in Education Communication and Technology and through his connections, obtained a job as an assistant professor (English and Journalism). He specialises in British Literature, British Romanticism, Creative Writing, Contemporary Poetry, General and Investigative Reporting (Journalism), and also assists with the Journalism Abroad programme, should someone be approved to study in London. Come the new term, he will also be a doctoral candidate at Columbia University's Journalism School (concentration: social impact of the media). He maintains his flat in Shoreditch and travels back for frequent holidays. His main companion is his greyhound puppy named Cargo, after his favourite dive back home in Shoreditch. What's Happening Now Patrick announced his plans to move to America, causing a bit of turmoil. He expected his older brother to merely let him stay in his flat; when Deacon told him that he couldn't but he would help him find other accommodations, Patrick had a bit of a tantrum and caused a fuss. Eventually, it boiled over. That is, until Deacon finally convinced Patrick to reveal his history of abuse - this caused Patrick so much internal grief that he tried killing himself by clawing at his wrists in front of Deacon, who then rushed him to the hospital with the aid of his friend, ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} techtech_pirate. Their relationship seemed to be on the mend following this fiasco after Deacon apologised for having not realised what had been happening 12 years prior and Patrick forgave him.Most recently, though, Deacon finally revealed his sexual orientation to his brother, Patrick, who was none too happy about the information. However, he's come around and decided to support him. The Briggs family has also told him never to return home if he's decided to carry on with this lifestyle. Colin, the third Briggs child, has come over to America to find out the full story from his older brother so that he may make an informed decision about whether or not to cut off contact as the rest of the family has done. He's currently dating kingofgray (Norton Gray) and is the happiest he's ever been in a relationship.He will be moving from his loft flat in New York City's East Village to another flat in SoHo once his lease terminates. Patrick is expected to take over the flat in the Village.
